1884: Porfilio Diaz begins his second term as president of Mexico, he also modifies the Constitution of mexico to stay in power. 1893: Victor Ochoa was the first american to launch a revolutionary movement against Diaz. 1896: After creating trouble in Mexico, Teresita Urrea is exiled by the Diaz government and relocates to El Paso. 1908: Diaz anounces that he will retire at the end of his term since Mexico is ready to hold free elections. 1910: Diaz runs for re election, but when Francisco I. Madero enters the race, he has him put in jail to win the election. Madero escapes to San Antonio where he drafts the Plan of San 1913: Huerta accompanies Feix Diaz (Porfirio's nefew) and Bernado Royes in planning a coup against Madero. Huerta and Diaz send their troops to attack Madero's army. Huerta assumes the presidency. Villa attacks Huerta's troops in the second battle of juarez. 1914: Huerta faces increasing suspicion and opposition. Presiet Wilson sends troops to occupy Veracruz, Mexico. Villa's forces defeat Huerta's forces in Zacatecas and Huerta Resigns (July). Carranza Declares himself president, but it is protested for nearly a year on legal and millitary grounds. 1917: A new Mexican Constitution is drafted and Caranza is elected president. 1919: Villa is defeated at the battle of Juarez and Zapata is assassinated at Chinamecca. 1920: Oergeron is elected president of mexico.
